Markus Ripperger

President, CEO and Corporate Chef

Markus Ripperger is the President, CEO and Corporate Chef of the Hampshire House Hospitality Group which includes Hampshire House, 75 Chestnut, 75 on Liberty Wharf, and Cheers Boston. He oversees the team and day-to-day operations at each of the four physical locations including the retail outlets for Cheers and works to develop marketing programs, special events and other corporate matters.

Having been with Hampshire House since 1992, Markus has developed and launched multiple restaurant concepts and projects from the 84 Beacon Street headquarters but his aim remains constant: to provide great food and ambiance at each brand and remain true to Hampshire House’s mission of offering guests an inviting environment in which to dine and socialize.

Markus’s philosophy is: “To prepare a fine meal for your family or for guests is to share with them a special gift. This gift is not just a memorable meal, but the joy of celebrating life, love, and good health with food.”

Starting as Executive Chef at the Hampshire House with the confidence of a seasoned professional, Markus quickly grew from a food-focused position to serve multiple roles over his time with the restaurant group including Corporate Executive Chef and Director of Operations.

Trained in the Culinary Arts as a native from Zurich, Switzerland, Markus got his start at the historical and internationally renowned Kronenhalle in proximity to Zurich’s Opera House, Schauspielhaus theatre and Kunsthaus museum serving Europe’s elite and art enthusiasts. He then went on to make a name for himself at the famed Restaurant L’Oasis in La Napoule, France before joining the Savoy Hotel and Grosvenor House in London. In 1985, Makus landed in Boston where he presided over all aspects of dining at the Colonnade Hotel, the Sheraton Boston Hotel and Swissotel.
